Is low-temperature solder wire strong? As a lead-free solder material that is resistant to low temperatures and has a low melting point, low-temperature solder wire is the primary choice for many heat-sensitive components due to its advantage of having a melting point as low as 138°C. However, some people question whether solder joints made with low-melting-point solder wire are prone to falling off or are not strong. In reality, the reason for weak solder joints is not the solder wire itself, but is closely related to factors such as the purity of the tin material, the welding process, and the usage scenario. Due to the characteristics of the bismuth element, solder joints made with tin-bismuth low-temperature solder wire are relatively brittle, with weaker temperature resistance and vibration resistance. This is a major factor leading many to perceive low-temperature solder wire as less secure. However, high-quality low-temperature solder wire has good wettability and fluidity. During soldering, it can fully wet the pads and form a dense metallurgical bond with the metal substrate. Avoid moving the components during cooling and allow sufficient time for the solder joints to solidify completely.
